VersEseal Crystal Clear SXL Shower Waterproofing System is a high-performance clear waterproofing membrane designed specifically for repairing leaking tiled showers without removing the existing tiles.
Leaking showers are commonly caused by cracked grout, minor tile movement or deterioration of the waterproofing beneath the tiles. Traditional repairs typically involve removing tiles and rebuilding the shower, which can be costly and disruptive.
Crystal Clear SXL provides a practical alternative by forming a clear seamless waterproof membrane directly over the tiled surface, helping to stop leaks while maintaining the original look of the shower.
The coating is a water-based aliphatic polyurethane acrylic hybrid incorporating self-cross-linking technology to improve durability and long-term performance. The system includes an adhesion promoter and hardener to ensure strong bonding to tiled surfaces such as glazed ceramic tiles and masonry substrates.
When applied at the specified coverage rate of approximately 0.5 kg per square metre, typically achieved over three coats in shower applications, the system forms a durable waterproof barrier across the entire tiled surface.
Because the coating is clear, the colour and finish of the original tiles remain visible after installation.
For shower floors, the system includes a grip additive capable of achieving P5 slip resistance in wet conditions when applied as part of the system. For vertical wall surfaces, the grip additive is not required, allowing for a smoother clear finish where slip resistance is not needed.
Under favourable conditions, each coat becomes touch dry in approximately one hour, allowing the system to be built up efficiently.
Once fully cured, the coating resists water whitening and provides resistance to common household cleaning chemicals and staining.
